Growing Together
Growing Together, our founding project, is a garden in Westcliff of approx 1 acre maintained by service users to encourage socialisation, confidence, exercise and education/training. It comprises of a growing area which supplies vegetables for sale to the general public, as well as a community area which is open to the general public. Since 2003 our communal area have won awards year on year from Southend in bloom and more recently 'Anglia in bloom' for its design and appearance.
The Growing Together project also manages an historic orchard in Rochford.
We provide in-house training and work experience for volunteers. Our training consists of a selection of both short and long courses including NVQ 1 & 2 training in horticulture, Health and Safety, Manual handling, Healthy living, Personal Development and Recycling. We use work experience to assist people back into employment.
We work with Southend Borough Council, PCT, Job Centre Plus, Southend Adult Community College, SAVS, Disability Essex and many other organisations.
